PTC's CREO, Laughable Marketing Fluff

Sped up CAD marketing videos are a silly parlor trick, and direct editing by push-pull? Nope, need real dimensions for manufacturing/tooling.

In 13 years of producing production level assemblies and parts, I would never consider designing the assemblies shown in this video by using push-pull direct editing.

For example, the splined shaft bosses. Best practice is to use the standard SAE spline, J501. That would optimize the manufacturing of the shaft and assure the lowest cost. The custom spline shown in this video would never pass a design review. Also, take a look at the patterned bosses on the case. I wouldn't  push-pull them to change the feature profile or pattern spacing, I'd use real dimensions so I could check machining paths, tooling access clearances, and the use of standard drill sizes.

The methods shown in this video are pure fiction, cartoon like.
