SolidWorks CEO Jeff Ray Called Me Today

Last week when the news broke about the problem with 64Bit 2009/2010 SolidWorks, I was discouraged. I was right in the middle of "validating" the upgrade from SolidWorks 2008 to SolidWorks 2009 for my client, a medical device company. Their documents specified that all computers and the PDM Vault had to be on the same SolidWorks Service Pack, SP5.

We had all the 32Bit machines at 2009 SP5 and tested. We needed the 64Bit machines, my supplied machine included, to also be at SP5. By the time we were ready for this, SP5 had been removed.

After a few e-mails, Richard Welch, Vice President, Worldwide Customer Services DS SolidWorks Corp., found out about my problem and he called me. He arranged to have all the files we needed to be sent to us overnight. They were and we are now finishing our validation as I write this blog. Great!

Earlier today, SolidWorks CEO Jeff Ray called me. He called to personally check up and make sure that everything was alright. Next, he apologized for the problem and any inconvenience they had caused. He said, "I'm sorry, Devon".

Wow, I've never had the CEO of a company call me and say that. Jeff sounded sincere, and I believed him.

Good job, SolidWorks and thank you.

Best Regards,
Devon Sowell
