2008 SolidWorks Explorer, Tips & Tricks

Here is Part 1. The first 3 seconds has some 'noise', I don't know why this happened. Be careful, the default volume setting in this player is set to the loudest position.

Here is Part 2. This one has a very short display 'glitch' at the end.

Windows Desktop Search is an enigma. When it is configured correctly, it is a great tool. I still don't understand why it can be configured and run correctly on one computer but not another. The 'out of the box' settings for WDS are a nightmare and cause one's computer to run poorly.

Comments and feedback are always appreciated.

Hello Nur-

Yes, use the Replace function to replace Components in an Assembly. For example, replace Part A with Part 100. Will you have to redefine the Mates? Yep. Redefine the Mates from the old Part A to constrain the new Part 100.

If part A almost same with part 100, the mates still broken. So, what is the advantages of this feature ?

This work fine when the filename, plane, and the geometry same, isn't it ?

Hello nur-

Yes, the Replace function in SolidWorks Explorer has limitations.

Here are some advantages:
1. You can replace Components in Assemblies without opening SolidWorks.

2. You can Replace References in Drawings without opening SolidWorks.

Will you still have to Edit the files in SolidWorks? Yes.

Many tasks in SolidWorks can be accomplished using different methods. Which method is the best? That's a matter of opinion. Use the one you like.
